A few years ago, Blues fans would have scoffed at the notion that their club would be finishing below Brentford in the Premier League table. However, with Chelsea’s latest loss to a team with a fraction of their budget, that is no longer an impossibility–it is a near certainty.

It was a familiar story in the first half as Chelsea’s attack failed to find the back of the net against Brentford. The Bees eventually made them pay for this lack of cutting edge just before halftime, when Mathias Jensen’s corner was flicked on by Zanka and then deflected off Cesar Azpilicueta and into the Blues’ net.

Meanwhile, Conor Gallagher had another disappointing outing in a season that started with high expectations. He was hauled off by Lampard before he could make any more mistakes.
