Leicester City has decided to sell James Maddison this summer, even if they manage to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

According to reports, a sale of Maddison feels ‘inevitable’ and the playmaker could be available for around £60m. Tottenham are also interested in the Englishman.

In their recent financial report, the Foxes revealed losses of £92.5 million, and they have struggled to regain their former position as competitors for European football since their historic Premier League win in 2015-16.

And what’s more, despite him being their best player and key to their survival hopes, Leicester look resigned to returning to a policy of selling a key player in the summer. They have struggled financially since winning the Premier League title in 2016, when they sold N’Golo Kante to Chelsea for £32 million. Last summer, the club were reportedly close to selling star midfielder James Maddison to Newcastle United for £25 million before the England international ultimately decided to stay at the King Power Stadium.

The future of Maddison is likely to be a hot topic in the summer, as he enters the final year of his contract at Leicester and will be able to leave for a cut price.
